Fan Mail

A few weeks ago, I wrote an email to Sara Groves. As much as I love music (and if you know me at all, you can testify to this extent), this is the first "fan mail" that I have ever written. It's not because I have never appreciated an artist enough to be compelled to prose, but this was different. Perhaps it is the perfect storm of my life and her music, but what she has created as a professional body of work may well have saved my life, or at least my faith, which is probably doubly important. Over the course of my journey, I became (and remain to some extent), disillusioned in my faith. Racked with doubt and lost in anger, there was little in the way of truth that I could find to hold tight. But when my heart was hard and unyielding (ok, really, when is it NOT?), God used Sara's lyrics to penetrate. Her songs speak to me of pain and doubt and FAITH despite and in the midst. Yesterday, my friend sent me this article where she is interviewed about her new album, which is amazing. In the article, she will tell you in her own words why I love her and her music, adding even more reasons that were previously unknown to me. Read, and join the fan club.
