Big news at our house: Wesley can read! Wow. This kid is freaking me out just a little bit. It was a random realization that I had over sidewalk chalk. He knows how to spell some words (his name, mommy, daddy), so naturally, he can read those. But then he read "Catelynn" when I wrote it on the floor of our garage. So, I'm mildly surprised and impressed, but I thought, well, he has seen it written a few times in the last six months or so... However, the next day, he dropped the real bomb. I was sorting through my DVR, getting ready to start a show for him, and I went in to delete the show House (one I had seen, of course!). He said, "Mommy, why are you on House? I want to watch Dora." I'm pretty sure my mouth fell open. In disbelief, I even made him go up to the TV and point out the word he was talking about. Yep, definitely reading. After further quizzing, he has also read the words dog, cat, and Publix. (Okay, so we go to the grocery store a lot! Is is too early for a New Years resolution: start making a grocery list?) Soon, we are going to have to take him to be poked and prodded and tested for abnormal intelligence. Where do you go to do that? Baby Mensa? Oh, and he has decided to be Leo from Little Einsteins for Halloween. He loves to conduct (like, as in the orchestra! Seriously!).

Was there any doubt your kid would be uber intelligent with the collective genes flowing through his body?
Were my child crazy smart I'd be skipping Baby Mensa and heading straight for World Domination. But that's just me.
very artsy pic friend

I understand the feeling...Abigail's Sunday school teacher (also a fourth grade teacher) is always amazed that Abby can read, add, and especially with her vocabulary. Last week she asked me how Abby could know and use the word "perseverance". Good job reading to your child, mom!
Michelle (and Marc too!), Hi guys! Long time no see! I found your blog through Alina's and it's so fun to see people from the old days! I'm looking forward to keeping up with your family a bit more. Check out our blog too if you get a chance! Jenny Vogel (Davis)
Oh! And what mom doesn't spend an unexplainable amount of time in grocery stores, farmers markets, and WalMart?
Yeah! Go Wesley!
PS - We are House lovers around here too!
