a short list...
- Some of the words that we commonly use on a daily basis can be very hard to define. ("Mommy, what does maybe mean? What does possibly mean? What does probably mean?")
- Toddlers ask some difficult questions. ("Mommy, how do you dance with a girl? Where is heaven? How far is the moon? Are we there yet?")
- There are a great many things that can be done one-handed and some that cannot. Tying drawstring pants falls into the latter category. A very important thing to know before heading to the bathroom, which yes, falls into the first category.
- Four hours of continuous sleep is a very precious thing. The value of sleeping until noon cannot be measured.
- The sounds your baby makes while sleeping peacefully are some of the most beautiful in the world. The sounds of protest that may occur before sleep comes, on the other hand, are heart-wrenching.
- Always keep bandaids in the house. Always keep some bandaids that do not have Sesame Street, Mickey Mouse, or some other cartoon character on them. Take my word for it; an adult with an Elmo bandaid on her knee just looks ridiculous.
- Pregnancy lasts 10 months (that's right, 40 weeks is more than 9 months!), but stretch marks are forever.
- Shooting urine across the room during a diaper change is not a skill limited to the male species (or maybe my girl is just "special").
- Thank God every day for the health and safety of your children...okay, that one I learn from being a nurse.
- God gives us our children. Give them back to Him. He never makes mistakes!

2 things I have learned from being a father:
1. tickling can be fun, whether you're giving or receiving.
2. a picture really is worth a thousand words, but an unsolicited hug is worth a million (at least)
